
Personal safety and social responsibility
This PSSR STCW course forms part of the mandatory basic safety training for all sea farers. The course covers interpersonal relationships on board, basic duties of crew members, emergencies and safe working practices and marine environmental awareness issues.
Curriculum
Safe working on the ship
According to SHM Shipcare 2018, personal safety generally includes the different ways and techniques sailors should adopt to stay safe on a personal level, such as attentive movement around the ship, careful handling of heavy cargo, etc.
Ship crew
The crew of the ship is made up of persons on board, who are registered on the crew list.
Human relations on board
Good interpersonal relations are the basis of transparent communication and cooperation between the ship and the company.
Marine environment
In 1973, IMO ratified the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, nowadays known as MARPOL, which has been modified by the Protocols of 1978 and 1997 and brought up to date with relevant amendments.
Alcohol and drug consumption
The consumption of alcohol on board ship is slowly getting eliminated through strict regulations and examination.
