
Basic maritime english
Maritime English is a working language used by seafarers both at sea and in port and by individuals working in the shipping and shipbuilding industry. This course is designed as a primer (or reminder) for maritime professionals. Seafarers and other professionals working in the maritime industry can use it to learn and improve their basic maritime English vocabulary.

Ships and ship terms
The trimaran hull form permits the ship to carry a large capacity of weapons packages with space to land two helicopters.
Types of ships
general cargo - ordinary goods transported on a ship, aircraft, etc. , rather than special goods like oil, food products, etc.
The merchant ship and its organization
catering dept. The organization of ships is changing but it is still customarily to find deck, engine-room, catering and radio departments in ships of a traditional type.
Loading, leaving and underway
dunnage - any material (e. g. shore gang - consists of a gang foreman, a hatchwayman, winchman, stevedores.
