Set sail on our comprehensive course on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, or COLREGs, a fundamental set of guidelines every mariner must master. This course presents an in-depth exploration of the 41 COLREG rules, divided into six sections, preparing you for safe and responsible navigation.
Our module starts with Part A – General, where we establish the foundations of the COLREGs. This primer will provide an overview of the principles and terminology underpinning the regulations.
Next, we delve into Part B – Steering and Sailing, which is crucial for understanding navigation rules and maintaining safe courses at sea. Whether open water or narrow channels, we’ll guide you on safely maneuvering vessels.
Part C – Lights and Shapes form the next segment, where you’ll learn to identify and display appropriate maritime signals critical for communicating vessel type, status, and intentions.
In Part D – Sound and Light Signals, we demonstrate the appropriate use of auditory and visual cues in various scenarios, an integral part of effective maritime communication and collision avoidance.
Following this, Part E – Exemptions offers insights into specific situations where certain vessels are exempted from the regulations. Knowledge of these exemptions is pivotal for regulatory compliance and efficient decision-making at sea.
Lastly, Part F – Verification of Compliance with the Provisions of the Convention will help you understand the processes and criteria used to ensure vessels adhere to the COLREGs.
Our comprehensive COLREGs course equips mariners with the knowledge and skills to prevent collisions at sea, fostering safe, responsible seafaring.
